The Managing Producer is also key role in disseminating and implementing production and bidding best practices and consistent workflows across the Production team, with the goal of maintaining the best possible relationships with all FOLKS clients, and the best possible creative and financial outcomes for every show.

FOLKS is a high-end visual effects studio headquartered in Montreal since 2012, with offices in Toronto and Bogotá. We have built a solid reputation in the industry as an artist-driven boutique studio. We value detail-oriented design through teamwork and creativity. We are known for great storytelling through high-end visual effects.

Responsabilities:

-Communicate a consistent and compelling picture of the company’s position as a world-class VFX studio to clients, partners, and staff.

-Represent FOLKS as front-line person in pitch, concept, VFX and production meetings at studios and production offices;

-Read scripts and participate in initial bidding/creative discussions, teaming up with VFX Supervisors to double check bids, costs, shot methodology, attend meetings, etc.;

-Monitor workload and assignments of Producers;

-Monitor financial and staffing projections for upcoming work and manage the flow of projects;

-Understand client expectations for budgets and bids;

-Collaborate with the VFX Producers & Resources Manager in other locations to track production;

-Ensure bids allow for profit margins in line with company targets and that margins are maintained during production;

-In tandem with studio leadership, monitor bids versus actuals for on-going projects;

-Produce shows as needed, while maintaining sufficient bandwidth for the other duties of the Managing Producer;

-Organize production meetings & prepare reports for studios leadership on the overall status of shows;

-Monitor the facility’s interactions with outsource vendors;

-Liaise with other departments – PM, IO, editorial, finance, HR, facilities – and ensure necessary resource and scheduling information is available;

Traits of a successful FOLKS Managing Producer:

-5+ years of experience producing / managing visual effects for television;

-Filemaker Pro & Shotgun proficiency;

-Good communication skill a must;

-Must be able to perform work with a high level of accuracy, detail-oriented, ability to handle multiple priorities, and be a self-starter;

-Can effectively evaluate and communicate priorities, knowing at what level to involve Executive Management;

-Able to execute all necessary assigned tasks while under tight production schedule deadlines;

-Positive attitude
